He accumulated eight tackles, and three tackles for loss against the Wildcats, including two sacks. Suggs dominated rival Arizona in 2002's "Dual in the Desert," giving Arizona State the Territorial Cup. He was named the 2002 Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year, in addition to claiming the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (Football Writers' Association of America's best defender), Hendricks Award (best defensive end), and Lombardi Award (top college football lineman or linebacker). Not surprisingly, the accolades followed Suggs after his incredible campaign. Suggs finished his career with 44 sacks, another FBS record yet untouched. Even if linemen knew what was coming, Suggs could not be stopped. He could beat you with speed around the edge, quick hands, and a powerful bull-rush. Suggs' pass-rush talent was unlike anything opposing offensive tackles saw during the year.
